EXPOSED!!!

My Father killed a man He was arrested To avoid prison He gave our 3 year old sister out in marriage to the victims family. When I recently heard the word Child marriage, I asked myself, does that still exists?  Not until I browsed through the net and saw mind blowing facts about the reality of child marriages. Gavin Weston was speaking to me (and probably to you) when he said most people simply dont know the extent of the problem. An estimated 25,000 child marriages occur every day. Thats mind-boggling, so much so that to many people it becomes abstract, unreal. Teenz Global Foundation held a TGF twitter chat on Sunday, August 28, 2016 by 4pm on Child Marriage with the harsh tag #childmarriage to discuss the menace and a way out on Child Marriage. She brought some speakers on the forum- Dr. Gideon Okorie @gsorochy, Olusola Folayan @itgsola and Uzor Darlington @visionike. The chat started with what Child Marriage is? Dr. Gideon defined it as a legal or customary union invol...

IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN ILLUSION (THE UNTOLD REALITY)

AMINAT. I pray this letter gets to you, we have been expecting help since from the army, but now our hopes are almost darkened, it should have been a nightmare, or an illusion, or anything far from reality---Oh God, please I don't want to think about this--- I would have been in a university by now, yes, Law 200 level, yes probably 200 level. My family, I wonder if I'm still fresh in their minds or perhaps long forgotten.... No, I shouldn't think about that. I never would have thought my dreams would have been cut short, never had imagined I would be part of this reality. When we were kidnapped, we comforted each other that it would only be for a day, it was a mass kidnapping, the nation will be aware and will soon be on the search for us, but days turned to months and months to years, and years to we don't think we will be rescued again. Our abductors showed us monthly how the whole nation and world cried about us 'Bring Back Our Girls'. It made us glad at firs...

WAS IT JUST A SONG?

When we were little, we used to sing- we are the leaders of tomorrow. Then, the song described our dream; and while singing it, the song brought excitement because of the Joy of that tomorrow. Fast-forward many years, it seems like that tomorrow might never show up soon.  Youths, which are meant to be in the heart of the nation, are now the ones engaged by the senior citizens or by other youth, to perpetuate social vices and cause unrest in the society. Lots of effort, therefore, needs to be put in place to encourage the re-tracing their steps towards being the leaders of tomorrow, as the song put it. This is what motivated Teenz Global Foundation (TGF) to organize an online forum on twitter to discuss practical issues pertaining to youths today, August 12, 2016 in commemoration of the 2016 International Youth Day. Tagged YOUTHS AND VIOLENT EXTREMISM, the Lead Discussants were: Imrana Alhaji Buba and Ambassador Joy Tiku Enighe. Imrana Alhaji Buba, the Founder/Coordinator of...

WHY JOIN US???

A long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right Thomas Paine . The social vices in the society is carried out mainly by youths in the society. The world is slowly becoming a globe full of unrest and at the center of it all, are young people, the youths. From the IS in the middle-east, to Boko Haram in North-eastern Nigeria, to the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force (JNDLF) in the Niger-delta region of Nigeria, to al-Shabaab shootings in Kenya, to the ISIS shootings and hostage taking in Dhaka, Bangladesh, it cannot be totally ruled out that violence and vices is now popular among young people. There is therefore the dire need for a re-orientation of the minds of young people to desist from engaging in these thereby depopularizing vices and violence. In commemoration of the 2016 International Youth Day, join us on Twitter @teenzglobal  by  4:00pm (Nigerian time) using the following hashtags: #IYD...

LEARN ANKARA CRAFT HERE!

For just the token of #2,5OO Isiki Pamela was able to learn the craft of Ankara making within five days at the Development Hub. Learn Ankara Craft as she explains it details by details. From my practical skills class which is Ankara craft, I was made to understand the different ways/things Ankara can be used to make e.g. necklaces (beaded and spread necklaces), bow tie and pocket squares, shoes, bags and purses, hair bow, earrings (coated earrings) and bangles. Furthermore, I learnt about the materials needed such as: smoking thread, needle, tailors chalk, normal thread, stay, warden, Ankara fabric, pressing iron, caribonel, UHU gum, tape, beads, suit lining for making of the purses. We carried out practical on making Ankara bangle which is to buy a bangle either a medium or big bangle that freely enters your wrist, then you measure the width of the bangle with your tape, for example, the width of a medium bangle is an inch, you will make an inch with your tape on the Ankara but youd...

Sorry, But you Missed it.

Yeah, you missed it, You might be wondering what you missed right? You missed the Development Hub program organized by Teenz Global. But nevertheless I would launch you into Adepoju Rachael's personal experience about it. (luck you!) The Leadership and Entrepreneurship Skill Acquisition and training was organized by TeenZ Global Foundation from the 25 th to 29 th July, 2016. This training was directed by Miss Juliana Oboh and of course supervised by Mrs. Ijeoma Sorochi Okorie. This few days I attended the training, I learnt a lot I cant even comprehend. I can boldly say it was worth the time and money because it is an opportunity one can hardly get. Firstly, the sessions taken for few minutes before the practical was very educating. I learnt about servant leadership and also the foresight a leader is meant to have for good leadership. I learnt also, all about entrepreneurship I need to know and how I can plan and manage my business. We were taught the steps and types of managem...
