  Global Citizen Youth Advocates Symposium 2016.
Deadline: August 28, 2016.
Global Citizen is gathering young activists from around the globe with diverse campaigning and advocacy backgrounds, the symposium will allow for an engaging exchange of experience, strategies and practices geared towards addressing pressing global issues, as outlined by the United Nations� Global Goals.
Applicants are evaluated based on:
  1. Experience campaigning on issues in their local community related to one or more of the following Global Goals. Food & Hunger, Health, Education, Girls & Women, Sanitation & Water
  2. A clear idea of how their participation in this training will go beyond them and benefit the communities they work with.
  3. An understanding of the values and practices of global citizenship.

 Become Sustainable Entrepreneur 2016!
Deadline: August 31, 2016.
With SEA we are looking for businesses/projects/ideas, whose innovative, lucrative business models have found the solution to an ecological or social problem. Independent from size, industry or country everybody is invited to submit his project, idea and business model focused on Sustainable Entrepreneurship.

 Nominations open for Commonwealth Youth Worker Awards 2016

QUEENS YOUNG LEADERS AWARD:
 Deadline September 4, 2016
THE QUEEN�S YOUNG LEADERS PROGRAMME DISCOVERS, CELEBRATES AND SUPPORTS EXCEPTIONAL YOUNG PEOPLE FROM ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH, LEAVING A LASTING LEGACY FOR HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN. The Queen�s Young Leader Award recognises and celebrates exceptional people aged 18-29 from across the Commonwealth, who are taking the lead in their communities and using their skills to transform lives. Winners of this prestigious Award will receive a unique package of training, mentoring and networking, including a one-week residential programme in the UK during which they will collect their Award from Her Majesty The Queen. With this support, Award winners will be expected to continue and develop the amazing work they are already doing in their communities. Applications are now open.


Open Society Fellowship:
Deadline: September 7, for individuals only.
The Open Society Fellowship was founded in 2008 to support individuals pursuing innovative and unconventional approaches to fundamental open society challenges. The fellowship funds work that will enrich public understanding of those challenges and stimulate far-reaching and probing conversations within the Open Society Foundations and in the world. Human rights are under siege everywhere. Why?
  1. Those who carry out human rights analysis and reporting have been seduced by legal frameworks and largely ignore imbalances of power that lead to rights violations.
  2. Political leaders increasingly play on fears that human rights are a Trojan Horse, threatening societies by promising rights to dangerous �others.�

 Etisalat Lagos Photo Photography Competition 2016
Application Deadline: 11th September, 2016
This year�s theme is tagged Performance.
The Etisalat photography competition was developed as a platform to engage and empower budding photographers using the power of digital media; online, social and mobile. Each year, a theme is created and submissions are received within a specified period. The public votes for images and top 50 images are reviewed by our judging panel. Winners are rewarded with prizes, finalists are showcased at the Lagos Photo festival.

AfDB Development Evaluation Week 2016 Essay Contest � Up to USD2,000
Deadline: 15th September, 2016.
The African Development Bank is calling for essay submissions for the AfDB Development Evaluation Week 2016. The theme of the 2016 contest is:  �Evaluating the AfDB �High 5�s� for transforming Africa.� AfDB is looking for essays that offer practical and innovative solutions on evaluating the �High 5�s� and that focus on value, innovative approaches, challenges or other relevant aspects of evaluating long term development challenges.
Essays may be written in either English or French (3,000�4,000 words). All essays should be submitted in Word and pdf format and include an abstract. Submissions must be original and unpublished papers, and must include reference notes and a bibliography if other authors� works are cited.

CONDEV.ORG/STUDENT-MEDIA-GRANT
 Deadline: September 30, 2016
The Center on Conflict and Development (ConDev, condev.org) Student Media Grant is now open! This photojournalism grant, funded by the Howard G. Buffett Foundation Chair on Conflict and Development, awards up to $5,000 to students interested in capturing issues facing fragile and conflict-affected areas of the world through stunning photography. Past winners have traveled to and produced photography highlighting issues in Nigeria, Mali, Bangladesh, Nicaragua, Kenya, Haiti, Guatemala, Ethiopia, Peru, and other conflict-affected regions.
Who�s Eligible? The Student Media Grant is OPEN TO STUDENTS WORLDWIDE (undergraduate, graduate, PhD, etc.). Students graduating in April-May 2017 are also eligible to apply.
