The foremost responsibility expected of a family unit is raising and training responsible children that would become agents of transformation within their society and the world at large. This involves an active contributory roles from both parties (husband and wife) inculcating the right morals, values, characters and attitudes; that they would never depart from but imbibe upon as a creed in their daily lives. Fagan (1995) from an in-depth review of relevant literatures in the social science provides amongst others, insights of the root causes of crime. Some of which includes:
Parallel rise in crime levels over the past thirty years is attributive a dissociation of fathers from his families.
Neighborhood areas with high family density experiences a high rate in crime, attributed to fathers neglect or abandonment of their responsibility.
The rate of teenage delinquencies/crime could be directly relative to the number of family households abandoned by fathers.
As earlier emphasized, both parties have significant contribution to the moral wellbeing of their child, especially during their development phases:

To avert such wards susceptibility to a life of crime, it is the mothers responsibility to sustaining a strong relationship with her child.
In addition, a fathers responsibility, involvement and authority over the well being, raising of his children serves as an essential ingredient in averting them from being tempted to a life of crime.
In conclusion, as purported by Fagan (1995), a closely knitted family, comprising of both the father and mother consciously involved in the upbringing of child is essential in averting the broad consequence of negative effects that would occur in the life of their children and the society, at large. This furthermore, averts an explosion of violent crimes within disintegrated communities and other forms of criminal delinquencies.
