EDUCATION: Beyond the Classroom
Written by; John Terngu
Education means to have knowledge, a sense of reasoning without which the humans may not exist. Education does not only mean to get specific formal qualification and get employment but being knowledgeable and developed in various areas of lives, morally, socially, intellectually, psychologically, academically, emotionally and spiritually. |
Education is not only gotten in our teenage years; rather it is a regular and continuous process in our lives and is sometimes learnt from our own experience. If there was no teacher providing formal education, we would have learnt from other individuals experiences. The much knowledge you can acquire carries you to the path of success and helps in the development of the society. To excel, you need both formal and informal education. The formal education is the knowledge acquired within the class room while the informal one is that which is acquired beyond the class room and you never forget an informal education like you forget the formal one.

Education in practical terms is not limited to the theories taught in the class room; it also covers the other technical and psychological aspects of education, giving it an unlimited scope. Back in my school days, a lecturer said, Education is what you remember after you have left school and forgotten all the theories and lessons you were taught; which in actual sense seems true. Every teenager has to start seeing the need to be educated beyond the class room, away from the supervision of teachers, parents and guardians, because it is how much knowledge you have that will help you achieve your dreams in life. So, knowledge and its application is a necessity.
Teenagers can also have technical education through skill acquisition training in vocations during the holidays in order to enhance their abilities and develop their creative and entrepreneurial skills.
Conclusively, it is therefore advised you value whatever form of education you have. You are an agent of change and development to not just yourself or your family, but to the society.
