Celebrating Mr. Uche Owele For The World Teachers Day

We Celebrate Mr. Uche Owele As The TGF Teacher Of The Year!!!

Mr. Uche Owele while waiting for an admission into the university to study law, enrolled in a teacher training college (FCE Kontagora) to become a teacher. The knowledge training and insights of what the teaching profession is, made him decide to shelve his University admission that year to finish an NCE programme in ENGLISH/ Social studies.
He actually chose this field because he wanted to make positive impacts in peoples' life because He realized how noble and fulfilling it is when instructing an ignorant mind or person to unearth his/her potentials in life. He loved the feeling of fulfillment and joy he gets from a learner who suddenly realizes, understands the concept taught and develops the skill and ability which he or she didnt have before meeting with the teacher
Its a lifelong positive touch in the life of the individual that may never be forgotten he said.

Mr. Uche oweles Favorite subject taught is ENGLISH Studies/Language. He said that
Language (English) is the medium of instruction/teaching in our schools (if a learner is to gain insight or learn any skill, such learner must understand clearly instructions, illustrations, demonstrations, guidelines etc. all of which are done using English language in our present schools.

Mr. Uches favorite aspect in teaching is the actual process of lesson presentation and interaction with the learner (students). The process of imparting knowledge and skill. That moment when he guides the learner to truly discover or understand the concept taught and life as a whole.

The strength he gains in this sector of teaching, is as a result of him being able to teach all categories of learners/students with huge positive impacts and building a healthy, moral and academic relationship of trust with learners. Just realizing that every learner in your class is happy and willing to learn everything you teach them is enough motivation for him. Also being a kind teacher will influence and motivate learners to really want to learn and develop their potentials.

Outside the classroom, the interest he derives is a sense of fulfilment that he has invested in the lives of the future generation. He actually marvels at the unique sense of curiosity of learners and their inquisitive attitude towards learning. He also enjoys society enlightenment and community development strides especially in non-formal education of people
His greatest achievement in this career, is being able to make huge positive impact on all Categories of students he has taught. He has also helped them to attain their full potentials in their academic pursuits and co-curricular activities. For example, He helped train and teach many pupils and students who had very obscured academic prospect to become great scholars and are making great academic exploits in several fields of study in various higher institutions and in enviable professional fields.

The most difficult aspect of teaching today he said
is having well trained and professional teachers who are well skilled and patient enough to understand the plight of an ignorant learners and how to help those with unique individual differences and ability to learn. Teachers today lack self and intrinsic motivation to teach. Many teachers have been swept away by the quest for material well-being and has abandoned the nobility of the profession for material gain, Mr. Uche also has the excellent quality of a teacher which includes, professionalism, good subject mastery and pedagogy, patience and tolerance, discipline, Loyalty and honesty, dedication and passion for his job, humility and good Mentoring ability to make positive impact on all category of students he teach.

The greatest Challenge facing students today as pointed out by Mr. Uche, is the lack of good Mentors as teachers. Because every child needs a Champion as a teacher. The student is like a ship in the middle of the ocean, the Compass that can guide him/her to its desired/deserved destination is a Teacher. If students are properly guided by their supposed heroes, the teachers, they will have less challenge in their voyage of academics and life in general. Teachers help to mold the students. Suffice to say the students are the results/products of their teachers.

Mr. Uche further advices students to develop a healthy and effective academic relationship of trust and cooperation with the teacher. Because an efficient/functional education is what is required to unearth that great potentials, skills, abilities and future they seek. Teachers are great, and none can dispute that fact.

Well, Mr. Uche we wish that in the next 5 years, that you will be a renowned lecturer (teacher) and an educational consultant. Whose pedigree can be likened to the great Fafunwa of Nigeria, Rita Pierson, and great teachers so as to unleash positive changes to our younger generations and the continent as a whole.
