Theme: The theme for 2017 Queen�s Commonwealth essay competition is �A Commonwealth for Peace�. About The Essay
Open to all Commonwealth citizens aged under 18, the Commonwealth essay competition offers young people from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to make their voices heard on a global platform, to engage with issues important to them and to express their aspirations for the future. Each year, participants demonstrate their ability to stimulate and provoke discussions about important Commonwealth and global issues from a young person�s perspective and to showcase their critical and creative skills.

Applications are open for African Leaders of Tomorrow (ALT) Scholarship Program that commemorates the late Nelson Mandela�s commitment to social justice and equity by supporting young African professionals to become leaders in public policy and administration.
ELIGIBILITY
In order to apply, applicant must
  • Be a citizen AND resident of sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Be between 22 and 35 years old (at the beginning of the study program);
  • Have completed a university degree meeting the minimum academic requirements for admission into a Master�s degree in Canada;
  • Have a minimum of two years and a maximum of five years of full-time work experience in the public sector, civil society sector or a research institute in Africa;
  • Be fluent in French or English;
  • Meet all the academic requirements of the study program of choice.

UCL Denmark Fully-funded Nursing Scholarships for International Students 2017/2018

World Bank Africa Early Years Fellowship

The World Bank Group�s Early Learning Partnership (ELP) is launching the Africa Early Years Fellowship to recruit young African professionals to support governments and World Bank teams to scale up investments in the early years.  This new initiative is complementary to the WBG Africa Fellowship Program, which is targeting Ph.D. students from Sub-Saharan Africa who are interested in starting careers with the World Bank Group.
For Ph.D students

Eligibility:
         Ability to work effectively remotely
         Strong analytical skills
         Strong written communication skills and ability to work well in teams, including with senior officials
         African nationals 25-40 years of age
         Graduate degree/undergraduate in a relevant field (including education, economics, statistics, health and nutrition, and social service) AND at least 3 years of professional experience in education, health and nutrition or social protection, with preference for previous work in ECD/early learning.

Noel Buxton Trust�s Africa Grants: Supporting and Protecting Street Children

About the grant: The Noel Buxton Trust is currently seeking applications for its Africa Grants, with an aim to support and protect street children, and help them find safe and sustainable livelihoods.
Maximum grant: �5,000 per year for up to three years.
Eligibility Criteria
Trustees tend to offer grants to smaller, grass-roots organizations and do not generally respond to appeals from large and well-supported charities.
The Trustees welcome applications from diaspora led organizations based and registered in the UK.
The Trust is willing to consider direct applications from registered civil society organizations in Africa or UK based charities which might be diaspora organizations based in the UK.
Applications need to be made in English.
Trustees expect to see a strong relationship between the applicant organization and the community that will benefit from the grant.
Trustees like to see practical ways in which communities will be strengthened by the work they fund and, especially, how women and girls will be empowered.

         Dissertation-Completion Fellowships are not available in South Africa.
