Teenz Global Foundation with support from Christ Embassy Abuja Zone began implementation of the Power Of Your Mind Project (POMP) for 150 teenagers between ages 12-17 in an Abuja-based Secondary School on May 26th2016.

POMP is a 6-week interactive mentoring project on positive mind development aimed at re-orientation of the mindset of teenagers using the book Power Of Your Mind by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, D.Sc., D.D.

The focus of the project is to help teenagers recognize that the mind is a special instrument to live an excellent life with endless possibilities; understand the effective use of the mind and demonstrate that sound mind is vital for excellent thoughts. We also believe in equipping them with knowledge and skills to recreate their worlds and drive sustainable development within communities. POMP modules cut across Values, Mind management, Thoughts, Attitudes, Recreating your world and Renewal of your mind. Participating teenagers were grouped into 11 groups with an assigned mentor to each group.

In the First week, the teenagers gained understanding about the workings of the mind and participated in a Pre-assessment survey. The topic of discussion for week two was captioned Your Mind through which participating teenagers were exposed to the concept of mind management and understanding that they are the expression of their mind. They learned about functions of the mind and identified its twofold nature; and outlined the workings of the heart, soul, mind and thoughts. They were also able to begin to think right thoughts and focus their mind rightly.

Week Three session was tagged Your Thoughts, the Mentors explained the importance of thoughts and how to use them rightly. They outlined different sources of thoughts, distinguished between the characteristics and operations of the spiritual mind and the carnal mind; described strongholds, imaginations and every high things. At the end of the session, the target group realized that they were responsible for their thoughts and expounded on how to deal with negative thoughts and emotions.

Your Attitude was the topic for Week Four. In this Session, the Mentors and teenagers analyzed how the rightful processing of thoughts, feelings and emotions can improve attitude; established how to use the mind in laying hold of dreams and how to maximize the intimate range of creative eyes using appropriate channels of vision. They also fully enumerated the concept of seeing it first from within and identified ways creative ability can be established through imaginative power and meditation (Your Moment of Creation).

In the Fifth week, Mentors introduced another book Recreating Your World by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, PhD. The session helped teenagers discover what it means to see all things new and narrate practical ways to recreate their world in order to change the circumstances of conditions of their lives. At the end of the session, Teenz Global received a feedback letter from the School principal.

Excerpts:
Even though the Target audience comprised mainly of problematic children engaging in truancy, absenteeism, poor attitude to learning amongst others, normal children also benefitted from the POMP Project. I am delighted to inform you that report from the Form Masters/Mistresses indicate improved academic activities and good behavior being exhibited by the beneficiaries of the POMP Project especially the problematic ones. While assuring you that the project shall be sustained through the internal mentoring scheme being coordinated by the school Guidance and Counselor, we once more say a big thank you! Alh. Yahaya

An Exciting Week Five with the teenagers
Next Thursday June 30th2016 is the 6th week and the POMP Quiz for the 1st POMP Project. We would re-ascertain the level of the teenagers on their understanding about the workings of the mind through the Post-assessment survey. At the end of this project, these teenagers should have formed a new character of their mind, gained invaluable skills to change their world and impact their generation.  It has indeed been a fulfilling and life transforming experience for the Mentors and teenagers.

Currently, 5574 teenagers from 15 schools across FCT have signed up for the Power Of Your Mind Project (POMP). You can sign up your school for this experience too!!!!
